The Lurkers

The Lurkers are everywhere in Leri-land; the mountains, the forest, the village, the seashore, the sea itself. They are largely unseen, by their own devise--although they can be seen when they wish to be. There are many legends about them among the inhabitants of Leri-land. Some think they are animals, of the small and fuzzy variety. Some think they might be the colorful, prismatic birds in the forest. Some think they are air spirits, transparent and ever-moving. No one knows for sure. Whatever their virtual form, all Leri-landers know that the Lurkers are aware of everything that goes on anywhere in Leri-land. Perhaps they take the information they gather and speak of it in their own Councils. Perhaps they are the sole, unseen defense of the village against the dreaded Hackers and the FNORD berserkers. No one knows this either. Suffice it to say that they exist, as much as any other part of Leri-land exists. And when they make themselves known, there is great rejoicing.
