The Lab
Located in the center of town, the computer lab is underneath the coffehouse/social center, strategically placed to ensure continued electronic communication among Leri-ites. There are several entrances from the outside, but the main entrance is through the social center. Down a small flight of steps, the Lab is cool, but never cold, and never too damp or too dry. The walls and ceiling are painted a deep midnight blue and the ceiling is covered with a representation of the constellations in the summertime. The carpeted floor is a variety of colors, each indistinguishable from the other but as a whole look somewhat gray. Music appears softly from somewhere, but the speakers are nowhere to be seen. Any type of music is welcome and group consensus in the lab determines what will be played. With the most powerful Macintoshes and the newest IBMs, as well as other support equipment such as software, scanners, and printers, the lab is fully equipped for any of the endeavors the Leri-ites wish to take up. In an attempt to make the lab as comfortable as possible, a wide variety of chairs and desks are used throughout the room, a full bar with assorted mind-altering substances and general snacks are against the far wall, and the recessed incandescent lights are dimmed. Couches, floor pillows, and bookshelves filled with various resources for any project surround the room and soft fuzzy blankets abound for those who have need of them. Despite the fact that everyone seems to live on the edge of town, the lab is one of the busiest areas here.
Addendum to THE LAB: Any and all new gadgets, gizmos, tools, and technology that the Leri-ites wish to have as part of the lab can be ordered and received with one week (let's not be too unrealistic), including the Power PC.
