kyra who runs with the tigers

there is in leriland, of course, a beach, on the edge of town. kyra lives there. she has a small house, with nice wood floors and many plants that manage to keep themselves alive by rainwater. she forgets to water them.

kyra lives alone with her tigers, but there always seems to be people staying with her. beautiful, strong women and men and animals, roaming in and out the open sun doors that look out onto the beach. these friends appear and disappear as they like, sometimes one, sometimes many, but there always seems to be space (and bathrooms) for everyone. wandering around the outskirts of town and walking with strangers is something she enjoys. if they seem like they need something, she'll invite them to come into town or stay at her house. new people always hold a fascination for her.

some nights kyra lights a bonfire out on the beach and people from town come down and dance and play drums late into the night, or far into the dawn...

the towns people come down the paths that wind down the cliffs behind the house. kyra goes into town every day with her tigers. the tigers run ahead of her into the square, chasing people like overgrown kittens and growling, but they never ever hurt anyone. they like to be pet by people sitting on benches, and have made friends with ziggy the boa from the monkeyhouse. (occaisionally, though, they will get into trouble by eating too much of the leriland plant life.) kyra pads in after them, in her bare feet. she has long blonde hair that sometimes looks silver in the sun, and black in the wet warm rain. her clothes change everyday, from rolled up jeans and nothing else, to flowing skirts and robes... but there is always a hat involved. her hats are often lent to people in town and she gets them back some weeks later, when they come to visit. she likes it this way.

in the open square she sits and watches people, and talks when she feels like it. she often sings to herself. she always gets a cup of willow's coffee and touches base with a few friends. then, if she's in the mood, she might invite everyone out for dinner, and cook during sunset for whoever comes along. after they have eaten, they can sit out under the stars, because there it's very dark at night. if people feel like it, they can swim in the warm ocean and come out tasting of salt. it's those nights, when people bring wine and souls that she is glad she's there.
